ALEXANDER COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Emergency personnel will begin conducting preliminary damage assessments in Alexander County on Friday after the New Year flood plagued the area.
Officials with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will survey the area.
Alexander County is one of 10 Illinois counties where teams are documenting damage to homes and businesses from severe storms and flooding.
Teams will begin their survey around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
The information gathered by the damage assessment teams will be reviewed by state officials to determine if a request for federal disaster assistance is warranted.
