ORAN, MO (KFVS) -

The cause of a Scott County house fire is under investigation.

According to the Scott County Rural Fire Chief, crews were dispatched to a two-story home on County Road 427 outside of Morley around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb 5, 2016.

When firefighters got on scene, the home was already engulfed in flames.

No one was home at the time the fire started. However, firefighters did fear at first that someone was inside since a car was parked in the driveway.

The fire department reports the home is a total loss.

Fire officials say because the home is unable to be saved they will let it burn to the ground.

They plan to check on it periodically, but won't fight it any longer.

When crews arrived on scene they said cold weather caused an issue with their water lines.

Firefighters from Oran, Sikeston and the Scott County Rural Fire Department helped put out the blaze.
