Sikeston man arrested after allegedly stealing money, bags of chips from sandwich shop

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

A Sikeston man was arrested Wednesday after a sandwich shop in Sikeston was burglarized.

On Wednesday morning, the owner of Merick’s Sandwich Shop at 901 East Malone discovered their business was burglarized.

The suspect had apparently came in through a window sometime after 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The value of stolen property was around $56, including rolled coins, bags of potato chips and business checks, while the value of the damaged property was far higher - around $1,500.

One of the initial responding officers remembered from the morning briefing that officers from the previous evening had two calls involving a Charles D. Galbraith III, 27, who was staying at a motel next door to Merick’s.

Two officers went to speak with Galbraith.

During a search, the officers found drug paraphernalia and some rolled coins.

After the drug paraphernalia was found, Galbraith tried to destroy the evidence and also resisted arrest.

Galbraith later confessed to the burglary and was charged with burglary,property damage, resisting arrest, stealing, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia with a total cash bond of $1500.00 cash.
