McCracken Co. Academic Team takes 1st place in district championship

The McCracken County High School Academic Team won their second consecutive KAAC Governor's Cup district championship. The McCracken County High School Academic Team won their second consecutive KAAC Governor's Cup district championship.
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County High School Academic Team took their second consecutive District Title on Saturday, Jan. 30.

The KAAC Governor’s Cup district championship took place at Paducah Tilghman High school and several McCracken County teams took first place overall.

The Future Problem Solving and Quick Recall teams took first place in their respective competitions.

Individuals for the McCracken county team also placed in the competition:

  • Mathematics: Zach Althouse (1st), Drew Schofield (3rd), Alex Bohannon (4th)
  • Science: Ethan Brown (1st), Zach Althouse (2nd), Zach Stone (3rd)
  • Social Studies: Jonny Wallace (1st), Sean Sieczka (3rd)
  • Language Arts: Caleigh Propes (1st), Elizabeth Brown (3rd)
  • A/H: Caleigh Propes (1st), Hannah Newberry (4th)
  • Composition: Katelyn Woodard (3rd)

Those students advanced to the Regional Tournament at Graves County High School on Feb. 16 and 20.

    SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon is collaborating with Cedarhurst Center for Arts to conduct the "Opening Minds through Art" program for those living with neurocognitive disorders.
