Herrin man pleads guilty to home burglary

DESOTO, IL (KFVS) - A Herrin, Illinois man pleaded guilty to a residential burglary in DeSoto, Ill.

Jarrid G. Harris, 21, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by two years of mandatory supervised release.

According to Michael C. Carr, the Jackson County State's Attorney, on Aug. 13, 2015 the DeSoto Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary on Hill Road.

Officers found forced entry into the victim's home, and the victim reported several items stolen from inside. They had information on possible suspects, and a short time later pulled over a vehicle. Harris was a passenger in that vehicle.

According to police, they found some of the stolen items inside that vehicle. After further investigation, they recovered more stolen property from a home associated with Harris.

On Jan. 29, 2016, Odom pleaded guilty to residential burglary.

The investigation was conducted by the DeSoto Police Department with the help of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Marion Police Department. Assistant State's Attorney Casey Bloodworth was responsible for prosecution of the case.
