CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Carbondale Police Department lent a hand to an area soup kitchen in need of supplies.
The Good Samaritan House in Carbondale, Ill. posted on Facebook that the shelter was in need of plastic cups, plastic utensils, dish towels and other kitchen items for their soup kitchen.
The Carbondale Police Department stepped in to purchase numerous supplies for the soup kitchen using money donated by the Jackson County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 117 and Carbondale Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 192.
Carbondale police also donated numerous coats to be distributed by staff to people they come in contact with through the shelter.
The kitchen serves three meals a day, seven days a week, to homeless and underprivileged members of the Carbondale community.
