Tips to beat the common cold

(KFVS) -

It's winter and along with it comes the common cold for many people in the area.

There are more than 200 viruses that can cause the common cold, according to missourifamilies.org.

Although there isn't a cure for the cold, but there are ways to relieve common symptoms.

These symptoms can include runny or stuffy nose, cough, congestion, itchy or sore throat, body aches, mild headache, sneezing, watery eyes and a low fever.

It's recommended to get plenty of rest your body needs to help fight the cold.

Keeping a room humidified can help ease congestion and coughing.

Gargling warm salt water several times a day can also help soothe a sore throat or cough.

Also, always remember to wash your hands and cover your cough when around others.
