CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

You could now make more money if you're able to help police solve certain crimes in southern Illinois.

Crimestoppers, which serves the city of Carbondale, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, the city of Murphysboro and the Jackson County area has increased the reward structure for all tips that lead to arrests. Carbondale police say such information can now be worth up to $1,500.

Previously, the amount would range from $200 to $650.

According to police, the Carbondale Crimestoppers has solved 173 cases, made 161 arrests, recovered $85,920 in stolen property and paid out more than $32,000 in reward money since its inception in 1992.
