1 person injured in two-car crash in Jefferson Co., IL

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - One person was injured in a crash on Interstate 57 in Jefferson County, Illinois on Friday morning.

Preliminary investigation shows both vehicles were north bound on I-57 at mile marker 105.

Matthew J. Strauss, 44, of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, was approaching Brian L. Fuller, 50, of Cumming, Georgia, from behind in the left lane.

Fuller was in the right lane switching to the left lane.

Strauss failed to slow down, striking Fuller's vehicle in the rear.

Strauss came to rest in the median after the crash.

Strauss suffered incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Fuller was uninjured.

He was towed from the scene due to damage while damage to Fuller's vehicle was not severe enough to require towing.

Strauss was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
