Equipment failure cuts power to 2K Jefferson Co., IL residents

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

More than 2,000 Ameren and Tri-County Electric customers in Jefferson County, Ill. spent part of their morning in the dark on Friday, Jan. 29.

According to Ameren Illinois, an equipment failure caused a power outage around 6:45 a.m.

Power was restored to about 1,119 customers as of 7:54 a.m.

Another 956 Tri-County Electric customers were without power, but the problem was fixed just after 8 a.m.

According to Tri-County Electric Cooperative, the Marlow Substation was out due to the loss of the Ameren transmission line feeding the substation.

Crews were dispatched and will be switching all of Marlow Substation to alternate feeds.
