3 Franklin Co., IL men sentenced to prison for unrelated crimes

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Three Franklin County, Illinois men were sentenced to prison on Wednesday and Thursday after they were all found guilty of unrelated crimes.

On Thursday, Charles M. Welsh, 20, of Benton, Illinois, was sentenced to 7 years total in the Illinois Department of Corrections for burglary and theft.

The sentence will be followed by a two-year period of mandatory supervised release.

Welsh was convicted and sentenced to the charges which allege that on August 28, 2015, he knowingly and without authority entered into a vehicle of Abbot Ambulance Service and stole medical kits.

The case was investigated by the Benton Police Department.

On Thursday, Michael J. Flodstrom, 35, of Thompsonville, Illinois, was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections for theft.

The sentence will be followed by a 1 year period of mandatory supervised release.

Flodstrom was convicted and sentenced for exerting unauthorized control over $620 in U.S. currency belonging to another.

The offense occurred on April 17, 2015 and was investigated by the West City Police Department.

On Wednesday, Allen Chandler, 35, of West Frankfort, Illinois was sentenced to 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for unlawful failure to register as a sex offender which will be followed by 1 year period of mandatory supervised release.

The offense occurred on July 10, 2015 and was investigated by the West Frankfort Police Department.
