MOUNT VERNON, IL (KFVS) - A town hall meeting is being held in Mount Vernon on Thursday, Jan. 28 to discuss opportunities for the Mount Vernon Southside Revitalization Project.
It will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building located at 800 S. 27th Street. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Organizers hope to hear from residents about their vision for bettering the community. Additionally, the town hall meeting will be a place to discuss opportunities to bring jobs, education, housing, and economic sustainability to Mount Vernon.
The meeting is being hosted by the Mount Vernon Southside Revitalization Steering Committee, NAACP Jefferson County Branch, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center.
