Indiana man sentenced to prison in IL for car theft

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The Union County State's Attorney announced Wednesday that an Indiana man has been sentenced to four years and 6 months in prison for stealing a car.

Michael J. Mitchell, 38, of Vincennes, Indiana was arrested on October 31, 2015 by Illinois State Police after stealing a parked vehicle from an Interstate 57 Rest Area in rural Union County.

He has been sentenced to 54 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one count of unlawful possession of stolen vehicle.

Mitchell also serve a two-year period of mandatory supervised release.
