(KFVS) - The Red Cross in Missouri and Illinois released an update Wednesday on response efforts to the New Year Flood.
According to the release, the Red Cross has:
- Assessed 2,695 homes for damage, with 1,682 deemed unlivable,
- Served 48,777 meals and snacks to affected residents,
- Distributed 25,546 relief items, and
- Logged 50,240 volunteer and staff hours.
"It is so gratifying to see communities come together in a time of need and help those who have been affected," says Cindy Erickson, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross of Eastern Missouri.
"Your time and support is a wonderful help to The American Red Cross as well as those who turned to us when they had nowhere else to go. You, our valued volunteers make this, and every response possible and allow us to be the nation's premier humanitarian organization."
