Jonesboro, IL man sentenced to six years for possession of meth

JONESBORO, IL (KFVS) -

Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds is reporting that one man has been sentenced to prison for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.

Steven D. Meier, 57, of Jonesboro, is to serve six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to deliver, which is a class X felony.

Meier's is also to serve three years mandatory supervised release.

These charges stem from Meier's arrest during a traffic stop on Oct. 21, 2015.

The Union County Drug Task Force also assisted in the investigation.
