LOUISVILLE, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by KSP Post 4-Elizabethtown, is reporting a Louisville man has been arrested on charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.
Sean E. Elston, 47, was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 26 as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.
The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect had been sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Elston's home Tuesday.
Before state police entered the house, Elston set fire to clothing and electronic equipment in an attempt to destroy potential evidence. Equipment used to commit the crime was recovered and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Elston has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, 20 counts of possession and nine counts of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Each charge is a class D felony, punishable by one to five years in prison.
Elston was taken into custody and booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
