Man arrested after home invasion in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A suspect was arrested after a burglary in Carbondale.

The suspect, Devante Gates, is facing home invasion charges after police responded to a call about a burglary in progress at home in the 2400 block of south Illinois Ave. on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.

During an investigation, officers learned the suspect went to the home to confront the victim about a personal property issue.

Police report during the confrontation, the the suspect and victim began to fight.

Another resident used to handgun to demand the suspect to stop fighting.

Gates was treated for minor injuries at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was later charged and booked at the Jackson County Jail. 

The investigation is ongoing.
