SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Gov. Bruce Rauner has named Mike Hoffman the new director of Illinois' Central Management Services, the state's personnel agency.
Hoffman is replacing Tom Tyrrell, who left the post last week for undisclosed reasons. Rauner's office announced Hoffman's appointment Friday.
Hoffman previously served as chief operating officer of the Department of Commerce and was interim director of CMS after Tyrrell's departure.
Hoffman served in the Marine Corps for 15 years and achieved the rank of major.
