MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - The Jackson County State's Attorney announced Friday that a Michigan woman was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting children.
On November 18, 2015, Armanda S. Gordon, 35, of Ludington, Michigan, pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault.
On January 15, 2016, a sentencing hearing was held where evidence was presented to the court.
In May 2014, the Murphysboro Police Department began a large-scale investigation of allegations of sexual abuse being committed upon two children.
This investigation was directed at Robert Allen Pleasant, who sentenced January 14 in Jackson County Circuit Court to serve 75 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for his involvement in these offenses.
Throughout the investigation, the children disclosed acts of sexual abuse committed by Pleasant, which spanned a number of years.
During the investigation, a child also disclosed acts of sexual abuse committed by Gordon, who was engaged in a relationship with Pleasant at the time of the offense.
Ultimately, Gordon admitted to participating in the sexual abuse of the child victim between the years of 2003 - 2010 at the direction of Pleasant.
Upon hearing testimony from the victims and considering the evidence, the court sentenced the Gordon to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. She will have to serve at least 85% of the sentence pursuant to Truth in Sentencing legislation.
Gordon will serve a mandatory supervised release period of three years to natural life.
She will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her natural life.
The investigation was conducted by the Murphysboro Police Department.
Assistant State's Attorney Casey E.A. Bloodworth was responsible for the prosecution of this case.
