The city of Jackson, Missouri invited the public to come out and see the new Civic Center and FEMA Safe room.
The ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 24th at 2:00 p.m.
The Civic Center is located at 381 East Deerwood Drive.
The project cost more than $5 million dollars and features a safe room with enough space to protect 1,554 people.
Other features include a banquet hall, catering kitchen, basketball and volleyball courts as well as a walking track and office space.
Refreshments will be provided at the ceremony.
On Monday, the Civic Center will be open for regular hours.
Those hours are:
M-T: 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.
F: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sa: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Su: Noon - 9 p.m.
The daily entry fee will be $2, but if you get there before 9 a.m. it's only $1.
There are passes for regular users and families.
