Slick road causes one-car crash in Graves Co.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A slick spot in the road caused a one-car crash on State Route 97 in Graves County on Thursday afternoon, January 21.

According to Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, deputies responded to the 11000 block of State Rte. 97 at around 1:45 p.m. for the crash.

He said Waylan Willett, of Sedalia, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic northbound when he said a slick spot caused him to drop off the shoulder of the road and lose control of the car.

Sheriff Redmon said Willett over corrected while trying to regain control of the car, and overturned.

Willett was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Sheriff Redmon cautions drivers to be alert to road conditions while driving.

"Roads are still slick and hazardous and we are expecting more bad weather tonight, which will only worsen driving conditions," Redmon said. "Unless absolutely necessary to travel, please stay home."

The sheriff's office was assisted by Mayfield/Graves EMS and Burl's Wrecker Service.
