Doe Run employees help the needy

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KFVS) -

Employees of the Doe Run Company recently did a lot of good for a lot of people.

Doe Run's southeast Missouri Division employees donated more than 8,800 food and non-perishable items to three organizations: the Southeast Food Bank; the A+ Consumer Directed Services in Salem; and to the Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence in Viburnum.

Also, Doe Run's Resource Recycling facility gave $2,500 to five local schools to support backpack programs.

The donations will help elementary school students and their families in Bunker, Lesterville, Salem, Steelville, and Viburnum by providing school supplies, clothing, food, and hygiene items.

The recycling facility gave another $500 to the Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund that helps get kids with medical needs to a hospital for treatment.

Last year alone, Doe Run contributed nearly $200,000 to communities through donations and scholarships.
