POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Three Rivers Community College kicks off it's 50th Anniversary celebrations on Sunday.
Joining the college in celebrating anniversary milestones will be Sacred Heart Catholic Church (125 years), Poplar Bluff Municipal Library (100 years), Sacred Heart School (100 years), and Wappapello Lake and Dam (75 years).
Three Rivers was founded on April 5, 1966, when citizens of Butler, Carter, Ripley, and Wayne counties voted into existence the Three Rivers Junior College District.
The college began storefront facilities in downtown Poplar Bluff with 138 students in the summer of 1967, before moving to its 80-acre campus in August of 1979.
Recently, more than 3,700 students across a 15 county service area attend TRCC with major locations in Sikeston, Dexter, Kennett, Malden, Cape Girardeau, Piedmont and Willow Springs.
Come join the anniversary celebrations in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on TRCC's Poplar Bluff campus at 2 p.m. on January 24. Refreshments will be served.
