Southeast junior Ashley Thomas has claimed her second consecutive Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week award with her performance at the Ozone Classic in Knoxville, Tennessee this past weekend.
Ashley Thomas, from Germantown, Tenn., set new season-highs in the all-around (38.775), vault (9.625) and beam (9.750) categories. She was first out of seven in the all-around and marks her second straight week her all-around score was the best in the conference.
"Ashley is so deserving of this honor this week," said head coach Kristi Ewasko. "She really stepped up to win the all-around last weekend against Iowa State, Pittsburgh and Air Force Academy. She continues to improve each week due to holding herself to higher standards at practice. This is a true testament to 'hard work pays off,' as she puts in the work each day, not only for herself, but to also continues to help her team any way she can."
The team is back in action this weekend, traveling to Centenary College on Friday, Jan. 22 and then taking on Texas Woman's, Centenary and Air Force on Sunday, Jan 24 in Denton, Texas.
