Bundle up First Alert Forecast shows freezing temps today

First Alert Weather Outlook:

We got a little less snow overnight than expected. Final totals should be 1-3 inches by sunrise. The southern part of the Heartland is dealing with ice. It is still really slick out there. The winter weather will be moving out as the sun comes up. After that, expect mostly cloudy skies and temps topping out around freezing. First Alert: the weather team is tracking more winter weather headed our way tomorrow and Friday.

Making Headlines: 

Schools closed: Nearly 100 schools are closed this morning because of winter weather. Click here to see a full list.

Roads slick: Authorities are warning that roads across the Heartland remain slick and covered in snow this morning. Make sure to slow down and give the person in front of you plenty of space.

Deadly shooting: Taliban gunmen stormed a university in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 19 people. The event triggered a heavy gunbattle with police and army troops who rushed to the scene in a town near the city of Peshawar.

Under investigation: The Cairo Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place on Jan. 20, 2016. There is no official word yet on if anyone was hurt.
