CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Retired ATF agent David Diveley has announced his plans to run for Sheriff of Cape Girardeau County.
"This is another chapter in my career of serving the public as a law enforcement professional and I look forward to serving the people of Cape Girardeau County," Diveley said.
Diveley said he recently retired as a Senior Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after more than 27 years of experience, all in the Cape Girardeau Field Office.
"That experience," Diveley said, "has formed my opinions about how an effective law enforcement agency should operate and serve the people."
Diveley said he looks forward to meeting people throughout the county and "am anxious to listen to their concerns."
Diveley, a Republican, will face incumbent Republican Sheriff John Jordan in the August primary.
