(KFVS) - Flood victims in Scott and Cape Girardeau counties have some more options in cleaning up the mess.
The Community Organizations Active in Disaster or COAD representing Cape and Scott counties has activated the Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC).
The LTRC is represented by area relief and recovery organizations and emergency management agencies.
Those in need of assistance in recovering from the New Year Flood are asked to call Catholic Charities at 573-335-0134, the American Red Cross at 573-335-9471 or The Salvation Army at 573-335-7000.
Assistance may include volunteer assistance with muck out, home repair or rental assistance.
The assistance is available only for individuals affected by the flood. addresses will be verified as being in affected areas.
There has not been a FEMA declaration for individual assistance for this disaster. In the event that a FEMA declaration is made, remember to take photos
of damage and keep all receipts of repairs made to your home.
COAD itself does not provide services to the community. They create a framework to recognize resources and organizations that already exist within the community and have them work together.
