Firefighters battle early morning blaze in West Frankfort

WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - Firefighters were dispatched to north Emma St. after a West Frankfort police officer called in a fire at an apartment building just after 3 a.m. on Monday.

According to the West Frankfort Fire Department, when crews got to the scene they found the fire at the two-story apartment building fully involved.

The building was vacant at the time.

The fire department says the house is a total loss. The structure next door also suffered damage.

The fire remains under investigation.
