You can expect a warmer, but soggy start to your Friday. Showers will pass through this morning, but are expected to clear out by this afternoon. You will likely see highs around 50. The weekend looks clear and cold. First Alert: Monday and Tuesday look VERY cold.

Making Headlines:

Workforce reductionNoranda Aluminum is handing out pink slips to 130 workers today. It is all a part of the first round of layoffs at the New Madrid plant.

Under investigation: Illinois State Police is investigating after a suspect was shot by an officer in Hurst. The shooting stems from a search for a suspect in an armed robbery at a Carterville pharmacy.

Staying put: The American Trapshooting Association is expected to announce the Grand American Shooting competition will return to Sparta this summer. However, the shooting complex has been closed since October due to Illinois' continuing budget problems.

New case: Tests on a 22-year-old woman proved positive for Ebola in Sierra Leone, an official said today. The announcement comes just one day after the World Health Organization declared the outbreak over in West Africa.
