POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Poplar Bluff police arrested two men after an armed robbery of a taxi cab driver on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Grand Avenue around 7:42 p.m. after the taxi cab driver reported two men stole his money and cell phone.

The victim told police he was dispatched to pick up two passengers, and when he got there he was held at gun point.

The police department reports the two men then ran away.

After a police chase on foot, police arrested 23-year-old Cardin Leech, a Caruthersville, Mo. resident. During that time, police saw Leech throw what they believe was the victim's cell phone.

Officers later located 18-year-old Larry Carter, a Poplar Bluff resident, hiding on the back porch of an abandoned house near Grand Avenue.

Police say Carter was found with the cash stolen from the victim.

Leech and Carter were booked in the Butler County Justice Center. They are facing charges of robbery in the first degree, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
