Ameren Illinois provides $1 million for energy assistance

MARION, IL (KFVS) -

Ameren Illinois has $1 million available to across the state to help income-qualified customers with their energy bills.

Hundreds of Illinois residents received financial grants and consultation on ways to reduce their utility bills at an energy assistance event in Marion hosted by Ameren Illinois on Tuesday.

The $1 million donation will be divided between 27 different agencies across the Ameren Illinois territory. 

Marion Crosswalk Community Action Agency received $50,000.

In partnership with the Crosswalk Community Action Agency, Ameren Illinois customer service representatives provided credits to residential customers who met income eligibility guidelines.

Energy efficiency light bulbs were distributed to each attendee, along with information on programs that can help customers manage their usage and reduce their monthly bills.

In 2015, Ameren Illinois donated $1 million to military families, seniors, low-income customers, and social service organizations to help offset energy costs. 

The company also offers several programs to help customers with bill payment and financial support, including Warm Neighbors Cool Friends, Energy Efficiency incentives, and Budget Billing.
