(KFVS) - President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address was on Tuesday night.
He focused more on his presidency as a whole than a legislative agenda as in previous speeches.
Obama was expected to present an optimistic vision built on economic progress under his watch while seeking to ease Americans' growing concern about national security and terrorism.
In a video previewing the speech posted to the White's House's YouTube page, Obama praised the American people for their ability to "come together as an American family" and what can be done in the future to continue that progress as what he wished to focus on.
Obama mentioned legislative gridlock and lack of action in the speech to reach voters who will be choosing new representation as well as a new president.
Obama delivered his speech before a Republican-led Congress.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley delivered the Republican rebuttal.
