15-year-old reported runaway dies in Williamson Co. crash

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A 15-year-old reported runaway died in a crash on Shed Church Road on Sunday, Jan. 10.

According to Williamson County sheriff's deputies, they received a 911 call at about 9:25 p.m. reporting a crash on Shed Church Road, about one mile east of Route 166.

The caller reported that it appeared the vehicle had hit several trees.

When deputies arrived, they said the body of the 15-year-old was found still in the driver's seat. The girl has been identified as Angel Dawn Glory Needham, 15, of Creal Springs. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said no one else was in the vehicle.

According to deputies, about 15 minutes before the sheriff's office received the 911 call, the Needham's had reported her as a runaway to the Creal Springs Police Department and said she had taken their vehicle without permission when she left their home.

The vehicle was taken to another location where Needham had to be removed by the Williamson County Fire Protection District.

Deputies say she died of massive injuries from the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Williamson County Fire Protection District, the Creal Springs Police Department, the Williamson County Coroner's Office and an accident reconstruction officer from Illinois State Police.
