Cairo woman, 2 children injured in fiery crash in MO

OREGON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Cairo, Ill. woman and two small children were hurt in a serious crash Saturday in Oregon County, Missouri.

The crash happened on Missouri 142 about 18-miles east of Thayer around 7:09 p.m.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Ashley Mitchell, for reasons unknown, drove off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

After crashing into the tree, the car caught on fire.

Mitchell was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains with serious injuries.

Her two passengers, three and five-year-old boys, were also taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center.

The young boys reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The car was totaled in the crash and it was towed from the scene by Wicker’s towing.

Troopers report that everyone in the 2002 Buick Century was wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
