HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) - For those affected by the flooding in southern Illinois, State Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, will be holding a supply drive through Jan. 31.
The items that will be accepted include: rubber gloves, face masks, mops, bleach and buckets.
Monetary donations will not be accepted, such as checks or cash.
Also, Phelps is encouraging residents to drop off clothes for men, women and children, bottled water and non-perishable food.
"I've been in contact with community leaders and residents in the floodplains and they've expressed the need for more resources, especially cleaning supplies," said Phelps. "Folks can leave supplies at my district office in Harrisburg or drop items off at my upcoming satellite office hours in Metropolis. This is going to take a community effort to help those affected start to rebuild and any little bit of assistance will go a long way."
If you would like to drop off items at Rep. Phelps' office it is located at 607 S. Commercial St. in Harrisburg and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
You can also bring supplies to his next Satellite Office Hours at the Metropolis City Hall from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11.
Residents looking to donate can also call Phelps' office at 618-253-4189 to schedule a drop off time items after hours.
The Emergency Management Agencies for Alexander and Jackson Counties will be provided all donations to be distributed to flood victims.
