CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Two Cairo, Illinois residents were arrested after a traffic stop early on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
Janiece L. Barber, 33, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released at the Carbondale Police Department.
Nicholas E. Webb, 35, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
Webb was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
According to Carbondale police, on Jan. 5 at around 12:02 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a stop sign violation in the area of North Marion and East Chestnut Street.
Police say the passenger, identified as Webb, was found to have an active Williamson County warrant and was arrested.
During the investigation, police say a K-9 unit was used. They say the K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle.
According to police, during a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found a stolen gun and suspected cannabis.
The driver, identified as Barber, was arrested and released with a drug citation.
