McCracken Co. traffic stop leads to DUI/Drug arrest

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a vehicle driving recklessly on Kentucky Dam Road on Saturday, Jan. 2, at approximately 9:10 p.m.

Deputies were able to locate the reported vehicle in the area of Camelback Road.

They saw the vehicle failing to stay in its lane, and at times, completely running off of the roadway.

Deputies pulled the vehicle over and conducted a traffic stop.

A roadside investigation led deputies to believe the driver, identified as Michael B Bates, 22, of Fredonia, Kentucky, was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Upon his arrest, numerous white pills believed to be Xanax were found in Bates' coat pocket.

K9 Pepo was brought in to search the vehicle and indicated to the deputies the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a small container with Hashish oil inside.

Bates was arrested and is being held at the  McCracken County Regional Jail.
