CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is reporting it has been receiving a high number of calls regarding people stopping on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge to view the high water levels of the Mississippi River.

Although the authorities understand that people want to view the historic water levels, they are asking that people not stop on the bridge, as it creates a safety hazard for motorists.
