Missing Herrin, IL woman found safe in Chicago

HERRIN, IL (KFVS) -

A missing Herrin, Illinois woman who was added to the National Crime Information Center Database as a missing person has been found safe.

Delia Ann Stacey, 18, was found in Chicago, Ill. on Jan. 4 around 11:15 a.m., according to the Herrin Police Department.

Stacey was reported missing on Dec. 28 at around 5:30 p.m. by her family.

The family said they last saw Stacey at around 11 a.m. when she left the family home on foot for what they believed was to meet a friend.

Later that day, Stacey's family said they received a text message from Stacey's phone number that read "Help."

Police say further contact with her via her phone was unsuccessful, as has the use of all resources available in determining the phone's location.

Neither Stacey's family, nor known friends, know her whereabouts.

Her mother contacted police on Monday and told them Stacey called her on the phone. Stacey said she was fine and did not need police assistance.

A Chicago patrolman made contact with Stacey and identified her.

Police say she has been uncooperative with any criminal investigation.

She was removed from the National Crime Information Center Database as a missing person.
