Three people were injured after two motorcycles lost control on U.S. 45 in McCracken County, Kentucky on Wednesday, December 30.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, at around 6:23 p.m., a motorcycle club was riding southbound on U.S. 45 towards Mayfield.

Deputies say William Cavanah, 56, of Paducah, was driving a 2012 Harley Davidson when for unknown reasons he lost control, possibly due to his front tire hitting something in the road.

Cavanah laid his motorcycle down on the pavement and was thrown from it. Deputies say he was not wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

According to deputies, 38-year-old Chad Warren, of Paducah, was directly behind Cavanah on U.S. 45 in a 1997 Harley Davidson.

They say Warren swerved to avoid hitting Cavanah and left the road. He went into the median in a southbound direction and also laid his motorcycle over.

Deputies say his passenger, 33-year-old Kristin Warren was ejected from the passenger seat of the motorcycle and came to a rest in the median.

According to deputies, Chad Warren was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but Kristin Warren was not.

All three were taken by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

The Lone Oak Fire Department responded to the scene to help with medical assistance and clean up.

Traffic was slowed for about 1 hour for the crash investigation.
