Jonesboro man in prison for not updating sex offender registration info

JONESBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A Jonesboro man behind bars for failure to update his sex offender registration.

Brandon D. Griffin, 32, of Jonesboro, IL admitted that he failed to report that he had moved from his home in Jonesboro.

According to Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds, Griffin has been sentenced to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one count of Unlawful Failure to Report Change of Address, a Class 3 Felony. 

Griffin was arrested in July of 2015 after an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Griffin pleaded guilty to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony in February of 2010 which stemmed from sexual acts committed with a minor under the age of 17 between 2007 and 2009 at a Dongola residence. 

Griffin was released from prison in January of 2014 and was required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
