    (KMOV.com) – Rising flood waters has trapped a group of children on a school bus near Mascoutah. The bus is currently located at Highway 161 at North County Road. It is unclear the ages of the children onboard. The Illinois State Police, Mascoutah, Belleville, and St. Clair County, Illinois officials are all on the scene.     Dozens of roads are flooded across the Heartland after days of heavy rain and now rising river levels.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will be in Perry County and St. Charles County on Tuesday, Dec. 29 to discuss emergency response preparations for rising river levels along the Mississippi River.

Water levels in some locations along the Mississippi River are currently predicted to match or exceed records set during the flood of 1993.

In Perry County, the Governor will receive a briefing from local officials about ongoing preparations for rising river levels.

The governor then plans to travel to St. Charles County to meet with experts at the National Weather Service about the latest predictions over the next several days.

The event is expected to start at 11;15 a.m. at the Sabreliner Aviation in Perryville, Missouri.

Press will be available to speak with the National Weather Service regarding the latest predictions for river levels and the potential for ongoing impacts of historic rainfall at the NWS St. Louis Office in Weldon Spring, Missouri starting at 2;45 p.m.
