This week in country music: 2003

(KFVS) -

Let's step into our musical time machine and set the dials for 2003.

These were the songs being played on country music stations this week 12 years ago.

At number 4 was Alan Jackson with Remember When.

Brooks and Dunn were holding down the number four spot with You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl.  You may remember the video featuring a girl who refuses to wear shoes.

Coming in at number three was I Love This Bar by Toby Keith. The song's title inspired Keith to open a chain of restaurants which he called Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill.

At number two was Cowboys Like Us by George Strait.  It was one of the few songs released by Strait that didn't reach the number one spot.

The song keeping it from the top spot was There Goes My Life by Kenny Chesney. The song spent seven weeks at number one and it among Chesney's biggest hits.

Country music from the final week of December 2003.
