This week in music: 1997

(KFVS) -

Let's check some entertainment headlines from 18 years ago.

At the movies the biggest box office hits were Titanic, Men in Black and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

On TV people were watching Friends, The X-Files and Baywatch.

And these were the songs people were jamming to this week in 1997.

Billboard's Hot 100 had Mase at number five with Feels So Good.

In the number four spot was My Body by the R and B group LSG.

Usher held down the number three position with You Make Me Wanna.

In the the runner up spot was LeAnn Rimes with How Do I Live. At the time, the song was setting a record by spending 69 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100. The song also set a record by staying in the top ten for 32 weeks. Despite never reaching number one, it ranks at number four  4 on Billboard's All Time Top 100.

And in the top spot was Elton John with Candle in the Wind 1997 or as it's sometimes referred to as Goodbye England's Rose.  It's a song Sir Elton originally recorded 24 years earlier, but reworked it as a tribute to Princess Diana.  It's the second biggest selling single of all time. Only White Christmas by Bing Crosby has sold more copies.

That's a look at music from the final week of December, 1997.
