Flash Flood Watches have been issued for much of the Heartland starting Saturday and extending into Monday.
Although some areas will get rain on Christmas Day, the greatest risk of widespread heavy rain will be Saturday through Monday.
There is still some uncertainty as to the precise details, but periods of heavy rain and embedded T'storms are likely from late Friday night through Monday afternoon.
Some parts of the Heartland are likely to receive several inches of rain during this period, with the heaviest amounts eventually expected to fall over parts of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.
Some models are indicating totals in excess of 6 inches.
Flooding of rivers and low-lying flood prone areas is possible.
Those camping or traveling this weekend should pay extra attention to the latest forecasts.
