First Alert: Chilly morning to give way to mostly sunny day

First Alert Weather Outlook:

The storms have blown through, and now we should get a reprieve. It will be chilly this morning, but Brian’s First Alert Forecast says it looks like Christmas Eve is going to be a beautiful day. You can expect it to be mostly sunny with high near 60.

Making Headlines:

House fire: Firefighters put out a large house fire in Union County early Christmas Eve morning. Thanks to a passerby, the homeowner was able to get out safely.

Wanted: The Mount Vernon Police Department is looking for help to identify two suspects wanted in an armed robbery at Casey's General Store on Salem Rd. Police say the suspects are two white males.

Sentenced: A man accused of kidnapping a woman from a Cape Girardeau park and sexually assaulting her in May has been sentenced in a federal court. Jeffery Lazier will spend 35 years in a federal prison.

Data breach: Hyatt Hotel officials are advising customers to monitor their payment card statements, after discovering malware hackers may have used to access customer credit card numbers. The malware was found on Hyatt Hotel computer systems used to process customer payments.
