BE PREPARED: Severe weather could impact holiday travels

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Today is a First Alert Action day. If you are traveling south or east of the Heartland today, be prepared for severe weather to impact your drive. Brian Alworth's First Alert Forecast shows thunderstorms moving across the area this morning. The best threat for severe weather will be late morning through early tonight. These storms could contain damaging winds and hail. In some areas, there is a threat of tornadoes.

Making Headlines:

Under investigation: Poplar Bluff police are looking for a suspect involved in using a stolen credit card. Police say the suspect used a credit card found in a stolen purse at Walmart.

Behind bars: Two Sikeston, Missouri men are in custody this morning after being arrested in connection with a downtown burglary involving numerous stolen guns.

Executive order: Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, who spent five days in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, feels the pace of social change has "awakened" Christians across the country. Her reflection comes after Gov. Matt Bevin issued an executive order removing the names of county clerks from marriage licenses.

Panic ensues: A robber shot and injured an employee at a Long Island mall. The incident spurred fear of an active shooter among shoppers.

Drawing attention: Activists are planning a Black Lives Matter demonstration today at the nation's largest mall. The goal is to draw attention to the police shooting last month of a black Minneapolis man, Jamar Clark.
