ISP investigate personal injury crash

The Illinois State Police is investigating a personal injury crash that happened on I-64 on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 1:20 p.m.

October S. Marchal, 18, of Christopher, Illinois, and Brett Hamlin, 25, of Knoxville, Tennessee, were both driving westbound on I-64 at milepost 72.

Marchal said her car was overheating and she was trying to pull to the shoulder. Hamlin told police he was behind a westbound semi at milepost 72, when the semi abruptly made a lane change to avoid striking Marchal, who was parked in the left lane. Hamlin said he was unable to prevent running into Marchal.  

Marchal was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
