WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) -

Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire outside of West Frankfort just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22.

According to the West Frankfort Fire Department, the fire started at a home east of town on state Highway 149 near Dunston Rd.

The West Frankfort Fire Chief says no one was home at the time the fire started.

Multiple crews were called out to help fight the fire, including ones from Benton, Ill.

"Once we were here for a while, we knew that we were going to need more man power. We had enough water with what we had," West Frankfort Fire Chief Jody Allen said.

Officials say it took about an hour to put out the flames.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
