MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A McCracken County man is behind bars after allegedly setting his house on fire early Sunday morning.

Glen Mitchell is facing first degree- arson charges after a fire at a home on N. 14th Street.

According to the Paducah Department, firefighters were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday in response to a fire.

A man and his one-year-old granddaughter were asleep in the home when the fire started, but were able to escape without injury.

Firefighters determined the fire appeared to have started in multiple places and notified police and the city fire marshal.

When detectives and the fire marshal were on scene, a man recognized as Mitchell, walked up.

Mitchell also lived at the home, but was the only resident not accounted for.

During an interview, the police department reports Mitchell confessed to setting the fires because he was upset over family matters.

Mitchell is being held at the McCracken County Regional Jail.
